Volunteer at Chalice Well

Volunteers are extremely important to us at the Chalice Well. We would not be able to open our doors every day if it were not for the efforts of our volunteers, many of whom spend valuable hours every week supporting the Well with their time.

If you are interested in volunteering at Chalice Well there are a number of opportunities available and new people are always welcome. You can offer a day or more weekly, or a couple of hours a month; the amount is always up to you. Training and support is provided, the amount depending on the particular role you undertake.

Gatehouse – in order to stay open 7 days a week, we rely solely on volunteers to keep our gatehouse open. The volunteer in the gatehouse is the first face at Chalice Well that our many visitors meet. You can do anything from a regular 2 hour slot every week or to a slot once a month. The role involves greeting people as they arrive and taking entrance payment plus a few other tasks.

Shop – We currently have a couple of opportunities to work in our lovely shop. To volunteer in the shop you will need to be available for at least 4 hours one day a week, with some computer literacy.  Some shop experience would be an advantage but not essential.

Gardens – volunteering in the gardens is very popular and opportunities are available in helping with weeding, planting etc

Office – volunteer roles differ according to experience but can range from various admin functions such as franking mail, filing, reception duties and answering the phone. If you have any office admin skills and/or data entry, desktop publishing, accounting etc we would love to hear from you.

Events – many of our events are run by a small staff team and a large amount of volunteers. In order to run the many events we organise every year we rely on a strong contingent of volunteers. These can range in helping in the gardens with the set up of the gardens with candles etc or in helping with the tea stall. The roles vary depending on the type of event we are holding.

Maintenance – if you have any kind of trade experience such as plumbing, painting, carpentry and general maintenance experience and would like to support Chalice Well please contact us. This could be on a regular basis or just on the odd occasion when something is needed.

If you don’t fit into a particular area but have skills you feel might be useful to Chalice Well it is always worth getting in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator to see if there are any opportunities available.
