New Toilet Build Appeal

An increasing number of annual visitors has resulted in a need for improved Toilet Facilities. Plans for the long awaited new toilet block are underway, with the building works commencing in January 2009.

Companion and architect Wilf Burton has generously donated his time and skills to draw up plans that are in keeping with the existing Chalice Well landscape and allow the building to blend into the gardens. The building will provide separate male and female facilities, along with a disabled and baby changing unit. The aim is to create facilities that will meet not only the planning requirements but also reflect the ecological and sustainable ethos of the Chalice Well Trust.

We would like to use as many environmental materials as practicable however, the challenge we face in meeting all of the above is the balance between cost and our eco-friendly ideals. The estimated cost of the build is £55,000. Unfortunate that our wish to make the building eco-friendly and sustainable has resulted in increased costs.

Green Sedum Roof

At £3,000 this will mean improved energy efficiency and removal of CO2 from the atmosphere, whilst also aiding drainage.

Eco-Materials

Other materials such as eco-bricks, recycled aggregate foundations, lime render, eco-plumbing, internal timber clading and roof support are all more expensive than their non-eco equivalents.

If you would like to support the Trust you can make a donation. Cheques (in U.K. pounds) can be sent to the Trust’s Glastonbury address, or you may use the secure payment facility.

Thank you, the Chalice Well Trust is grateful for any donations received.
