The mystical significance of the Vesica Piscis has been the subject of debate at several periods in history, perhaps first amongst the Pythaoreans. In Christian art and the seals of ecclesiastical organisations the central vesica had been used in it’s vertical alignment to frame spirtual personages. More recently it has been interpretated as a yonic symbol. The upper circle could be thought of as the eternity of heaven and the circle below as the eternity of earth, with man standing between the two.
