Holy Thorn Blown Over in the Storm

Sadly we lost one of our much loved Holy Thorn trees in the storm winds during the night of Wednesday 4 January.
The tree had stood just above the vesica pool for many years, and the view towards the yew trees from the lower lawn will seem bare for some time.
A tree surgeon had informed us last year that the trunk was brittle and the tree probably only had a few years left. Unfortunately it was not strong enough to withstand the storm.
The tree will remain where it fell until Monday 9 January for those who want to visit. The wood will be kept and used in our ceremonies.
It is our intention to plant a new tree.
