Warrior Programme visits Chalice Well

On July 6th, the Chalice Well welcomed 14 active and ex-service men and women for a 3 day residential retreat facilitated by The Warrior Programme.  This programme assists individuals who are suffering from the trauma of war to find hope and a renewed sense of purpose and connection to life.

The peaceful and healing environment of the Chalice Well Gardens supported the programme activities which included; tai chi, meditation and Hawaiian Huna forgiveness therapy.

Some participants shared their experiences of war and conflict and the impact that these had had on their lives; from addiction to alcohol and drugs, to losing their home and relationships with family and loved ones. The change in the participants from the first to the third day was noticeable and clearly the programme had enabled many to release wounds and anxieties and in the words of one participant “see the light at the end of a very dark tunnel”. They will continue to be supported by the Warrior Programme’s support groups.

The Warrior Programme is a charity co-founded by Chalice Well Companion, Eva Hamilton MBE and further information can be found at www.thewarriorprogramme.org.uk & bbc_article.
